Douglas J. Petro

Douglas J. Petro is an Associate in the Orlando office. Since 1995, he has devoted his practice to construction defect, automobile liability, premises and negligent security and product liability matters. He has represented insurers, self-insured companies, construction companies, commercial contractors, community associations, apartment complexes, landlords and property owners and commercial businesses on a wide range of complex civil litigation matters. His construction defect practice includes investigating and responding to Chapter 558 notices, as well as defending contractors, subcontractors and other industry professionals in the event of ensuing litigation.

In the area of automobile liability, he represents insurers in first-party litigation concerning coverage, bad faith and fraud investigation, and third -party bodily injury litigation. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at various private practices representing Fortune 500 companies in complex product liability and premises liability litigation. He was also in-house counsel for a major insurer where he handled third-party bodily injury matters and property damage litigation.

Douglas graduated from Stetson Law in 1995. He earned a B.S. with a concentration in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics from the University of Florida. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1995. He is also a member of the United States District Court, Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
